credit card outstanding

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 09 October 2010 This query is : Resolved
I had taken SBI credit card. I didn't opt for their insurance scheme. But when I received first statement it was reflecting the premium for insurance. So I informed them and asked them to cancell it. They didn't act after repeated request. In April 2008 I stopped using card and I paid for whatever I have purchased. But due to that premium charges they I increased outstanding and now it is 12000/- Please guide me.

Send them a notice to cancel Rs.12000/-. Ask them to produce the proof for your acceptance in taking up the policy. pls make sure that your have not signed any insurance forms or you have agreed over phone for taking up a insurance policy.

Author must also ensure that the said credit card application signed by you is not tied up with any Term Insurance Scheme.

Thank u for reply sir,I have already asked them for proof. They are telling that it is Telephonic acceptance. But I am sure that I have neither accepted it telephonically nor I have signed any insurance form. And whatever correspondence I try with them they conveniently ignore this and only talk about the outstanding. What should I do?

Can I ask them for the copy of application form which I have signed. If yes what is a procedure. Pl help me.

If you have received the credit card and started using it, then it construes that you are bound by all terms and conditions that are governed by Credit Card Rules where insurance clause should have been incorporated.

you can ask in RTI for all documents signed by you.
