Most of the insurance companies does not insist on the original policy document. If you have got any receipt of premium paid and could show yourself to be the legally wedded wife of the insured then there should not be any hurdle to get the money insured.

No body else can also could claim the assured amount with the help of the lost original insurance policy as claim is settled only to the nominee. LIC has simplified its procedure in settling such cases taking questionnnaire, indemnity, affidavit as the main source documents.

I agree with Mr.Loganathan.

You provide the details what ever you are having to the concerned Insurance Company.

Approach the Insurance co. with your husband's Death certificate alongwith your identity & proof of relationship e.g. marriage certificate etc.
Nowadays, finding details of Insurance is easy. U may also take the services of an Insurance Agent especially the one who made out the Policy papers if he is around.
