Discovery or Interrogatories

In Western Countries there is procedure to called Discovery to ask the opposing party for certain documents. Is there a similar process in India? At what stage can it be instituted.

yes it is very much available in india also. it is laid down in order 11 of c.p.c. it can ba invoked at any stage before the commencement of trial.
