travelling across state by two wheeler

iam a resident of pondicherry. If i travel by bike (pondicherry registered) to chennai for one day, should i get noc from RTO? Kindly guide me where are the legal formalities related to that available.

no need of noc for this.

No need to take permission from the RTO, but without fail carry the vehicle documents, like RC Book, License and Insurance copy

why do u need any NOC from the RTO?

dear yours is a two wheeler, not a Heavy Commercial Vehicle or a Truck....u may move anywhere in India on your Two Wheeler.

But you must have your personal idendity papers also., just for precaution.

And for other experts I pose a question in this matter. I routinely ask first qestion in cross examination whether the witness can show his identity. In most of the cases I get NO answer.

good suggestion Mr.Shashikumar. Nowadays carrying an identity card(of whatever nature) while moving away from your home is a better precaution on many counts.
