Car parking outsid our wall / troublesome neighbour

(Querist) 21 July 2013 This query is : Resolved
We live in a bungalow and our car parked inside our garage. My parents are very old in their eighties and value their privacy. Our problem is that a car, belonging to an apartment owner of the adjacent opposite building, is sometimes parked ouside our property wall on the nature strip of the road even though they have vacant strips near their building. Its a family having 2 cars of which either one gets parked outside our wall, both cars used by one driver. Been going on for nearly 2 weeks now.
I had requested the car owner if he would avoid parking outside our wall and use the vacant space outside their building or even the opposite building, and adjacent to their opposite bulding is a large park which is brightly lit at night where they can park outside. He agreed but continued to park either car outside our wall near our gate, so my parents and I went to the police and asked if they would request the owner not to park there, which they did. It was not a complaint nor reported in writing, just asking the police to help. The owner promptly removed the car but was infuriated and later approached us and started shouting from outside our gate saying that since we challenged him by involving the police, we are troublemakers and will be treated likewise.
He has been resident here fifth year running, we for 20 years. My parents are old and this is not the type of living conditions they should have to endure from now on. We have no other place to go and shouldn't have to for peace of mind.
Im not aware of anything in the law that can help us so Im appealing for any advice for my parents sake. Please help.

This in normal reaction to your action. If this cross legal limits you may lodge complaint with the police. Better try to settle the matter amicably with the help of effective neighbors.

install CCTV cameras around your bungalow . next time the neighbour threatens your parents use the footage in filing complaint with cops against your neighbour

you have no right to stop someone from parking his car outside your estate as long as it does not obstruct your passage (which you have not indicated.

You have invited police and not able to take any action against him as he broke no law. Now you have to get used to this.
