Election duty

(Querist) 04 April 2014 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir,
I am working as a lecturer in a Govt. aided college.I was appointed as a Prisiding Officer for the coming election that is going to be held on 7th April 2014. I have attended three trainings and will perform my duty as a Prisiding Officer on 7th. But, the problem is that my son is suffering from severe illness and I have sheduled an appointment with a doctor of Apollo, Delhi on 28th April, for which I have reserved my train tickets for 25th April and will return on 9th May. My college authoroties have informed me that I will also get election duty as a counting supervisor on 16th May and they cant grant me Earned leave or any Station leave for the same. My question to you is that -is it fair to appoint me in two election duties. If so whether it is possible to get rid of the second duty?

You can seek exemption from duty on this ground.
It is valid one.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 05 April 2014
you have to put up you case before Distt Election Officer who alone can give you relief and your college authorities have no jurisdiction unless they are bale to give a reliever.

Explain the reason in writing under proper acknowledgment /and in person too, to college authorities and Dist. Election Officer and explain the duty already served faithfully and obtain exemption in writing.
