T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 17 April 2015
The Muslim law recognises divorce or talak which means 'repudiation' as a method of dissolution of marriage. The very word talak signifies the absolute and unilateral power of a Muslim husband to divorce his wife at any time or whenever he desires even without assigning any reason (the Supreme court has come down heavily on this 'without assigning any reason'). Therefore pregnancy cannot be a bar for pronouncing talak.
