whether law of limitation is applicable to criminal law? and if yes then what are the relevant provisions?

Generally the expression "law of limitaition" refers to the Limitation Act, 1963 which applies to only civil litigation. Periods of Limitation to institute criminal cases are contained in Section 468 of Cr.Pc.
