Meaning of ex p1

(Querist) 26 February 2013 This query is : Resolved 
Me and my wife had submitted our passport in a family court as proof of our relation with each other as husband wife in absence of a marriage certificate. The court stamped my passport and wrote "ex p1" on it. What does "ex p1" mean??

it means EXhibit Plaintiff 1 . document has been taken on record by court and marked as an exhibit
