which is easier and inexpensive ,1.to transfer immovable property to an existing educational trust ,or 2.by constituting new trust and settling land/property in favour of trust.

Give the property as a gift, that will be less expensive.

Even Gift will attract stamp duty (as applicable to conveyance) on the value of the property.

Yes Mr. R.Ramchandran is right " gift " attracts as much duty as a sale does,at least in UP.
