Please tell the college is under which University?
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 23 May 2011
Yes you can, if the degree is from a BCI recognized university..
Khaleel Ahmed (Expert) 23 May 2011
There is no such LL.B Course in India, at present as per the BCI rules.
Kirti Kar Tripathi (Expert) 23 May 2011
yes, you can
Dr V. Nageswara Rao (Expert) 24 May 2011
1. Did you pass regular LL.B. from an evening college which is recognised by BCI at a time when BCI permitted Evening Colleges?
2. Did you go through fullfledged 3-year LL.B. course and not BGL?
3. If answer is yes to both the questions, you can enrol as an advocate.
M/s. Y-not legal services (Expert) 24 May 2011
No. Right now you can't enroll as an advocate.
Dr V. Nageswara Rao (Expert) 25 May 2011
1. BCI decided to discontinue grating recognition to Evening Colleges with effect from 2000.Section B:
2 (1) That the Law Education under Section - B may be through whole time colleges. All law colleges which are exclusively running evening sessions shall switch over to "Day" sessions during the academic year 2000-2001 failing which they will not be entitled to approval of affiliation by the Bar Council of India. Provided that wherever the college is running evening course, the students who were admitted to the first year in the evening sessions during the academic year 1999-2000 shall be allowed to complete the course.
2. So, those who obtained LL.B. degree even in an Evening College under the proviso referred to above can enroll as advocates at any time afterwards.
3. What BCI has done is not to recognize evening colleges after 2000.Obviously, BCI cannot derecognize LL.B. degree validly studied in Evening college prior to 2000 or under proviso.
Non-recognition of Evening Colleges after 2000 should not be confused with non-recognition LL.B. degree.obtained from Evening Colleges prior to 2000.
RAJU O.F., (Expert) 25 May 2011
With the earlier LL.B degree recognised by Bar Council of India, anyone can enroll as an advocate. Since there is no such BL/LLB course available in evening colleges, no one can join fresh for such courses. With other degrees such as BGL, BAL, etc., conducted by part time or correspondence, it is not possible to enroll as an advocate; they can join law firms, banks and can be appointed as law officers.
