my wife has filed 498a against us.if aquitted what is the maximum amount that i can claim in defamation suit fro my wife.is there any procedure of calculating amount claimed in defamation

You cannot file defamation against your wife, since the case has no ingredients fit for a defamation case..

YOU CAN FILE PROVIDED SHE HAS DEFAMED YOU AS PER LEGAL DEFINITION. YOU MAY FIX ANY AMOUNT IN WHICH U CAN PAY THE COURT FEES IN CIVIL CASE. OTHERWISE IN CRIMINAL DEFAMATION NOT MUCH COURT FEES- VERY NOMINAL.
