Dear Sir/Madam
Kindly advise if there are any legal challenges to cancel an engagement?
I had an engagement last month( not took any dowry).... on our every conversations, I am realizing that behavior/attitude of the girl is very stubborn. I am afraid to marry her, as her attitude does not let me live happily and my parents (as I am single son for my parents)
We had an engagement in a party hall with our relatives, and there was a photo session arranged? would it create legal issues ?

Hi Sir/Madam,
My wife is patient of depression & is taking medicine to control depression, which she is caring with her as daily dose. My father in law had never informed me about her daughter disease before my engagement or before my marriage to her daughter. As I was not familiar of the disease & symptoms�. My marriage was done 1 year 8 month earlier. My father in law has cheated me & my family by not informing about her daughter disease before the engagement /marriage & had taken the marriage in place as scheduled.
On reaching My place she started quarrelling with me on daily basis & breaking the kitchen items & cell phone. Now, she is threatening to me & my family that she will file a case against me & my family. In the mean time my father in law Mr mother in law and brother in law are also threatening to me.
In this situation if anything happens to my wife then myself & my family members will not be held responsible. as she is patient of depression & is undergoing treatment for last 5 years and before my engagement date.
Note:- I have all doctor prescription and threating call by her.
Please suggest, what can I do?

Hi sir, I'm Manjula from Bangalore. My sister in- law filed fake DV against my brother & family. Case is in court since 2 years & 6 month back court told us to pay interim payment. We haven't paid since she is working & staying separately from past 2 years. Lawyers advice us pay it off some amount so we are paying it. I would like to know what further action she can take & how can I protect my family? 15 year got over for my brothers marriage that too love marriage & non of us went to their marriage, can she file 498a case now? Respected all I married in Nov 2011 by a marriage buero. Which was later of found that he is the relative of my wife. I m also a law graduate but not practicing. I m doing a job in private company. At the time of marriage the parents of my wife told me that she is doing CA. But later on finds she is just only 12 passport and having forged graduate b. A degree docs. I I was very happy to know to continue my professional office to associate with her. After marriage next day she said me that I m not of her liking she wanted to merry someone else. I ask her that then why she merry me? She said her family pressuring her to merry here. I told her that take time and try to adjust now we have to run this relationship. But no ways.. All do nothing. She always pressuring me to get separate from ur family ( we have 4 in family Father mother elder sister now happily married and me) and get ur share and settled at her parental home town. I refused for same then she trying to threaten us by saying that if I am not doing same she commit sucide. I complained her to her parents but no effect. One day she said to meet her parents and went there. When a week pass out I call her and ask her for returning she replied if I not accepted her demand of getting share from parents and shifted at her parental home town she filed false cases against me nd my family and she filed DV Act case. When I got summon No one of us think about this. After that I collect a panchayat and visited at her parental home The panchayat advice her to mend her behavior towards me and my family but no results. She agreed in front of panchayat after that her behavior has no changed. For getting sympathy from law she filed sec 9 whose summoning revoked by her. After 6 months in DV Act case Honable judge try to mend her mind and advice her to restart married life peacefully. She agreed with a condition that she was not stayed with my parents and I have to find some other place to live. I I agreed and find a rented house in my city at my friends home. She came back and restart staying with me. Now her behavior is too much cruel as compared to previous. She always said I m not well, and having rest all the time even she is not cook food for me. Even when ever I getting late from office she said I m spending time with my parents. Her big brother and bhabhi has great interference in our matrimonial house. When we stayed together they visited oftentimes. When we stayed both she was not getting back her cases even we traveled jointly and attending dates of cases. In between she filed sec 125 case. Everything is going on. One day on hearing date of DV Act she said she want to stayed at her parental home for some of her baba jis birthday celebration and after celebration she will get back to me. I agreed and in DV Act case she carried her baggage too and said she is not happy with me and never want to get back with me. The judge said OK and she went back her parental home with her brother as they planned. I was totally shocked and confused and I found my confusion clear when I found that Jewellery and cash at home was not at its place she carried out with her. I complained for this to her parents. I again shocked when her father said He has no value at his home. only her elder brother is main hero of the family. She was stayed with me at rented house for 8 months. After a time she filed complaint twice a time at women cell. Where in 1st complaint she compromised in front of officer to get back with me but she was not rejoin with me. In 2nd time officer finds no dowry demands and find false complaint against me. In 2nd complaint to women cell her brother call two Gundas to fight with me they trying to hit me at women cell office then the staff revoked them for which I give written complaint to officer. Then the officer give warning to them and they ran out from their. In 125 case judge fixed her interim 2200/-p.m from the date of filling. which I m paying now. After this I filed sec 9 to get back her at his matrimonial home she filed TA at high court. Where court appointed council for counciling where councilor try to mend her behavior but no results after that case transferred at her place. I get back the case when she said she wants divorce from me. I filed Sec 13 case she again file TA which also transferred by court. In between DV Act case decision came out in which no allegations proved and judge allowed her 7000 pm for her maintainance from the date of application. I tried to getting solution for this I collect panchayat lots of time but they refuses. They are demanding 20 lacs to wind up these all false episode. I have not enough money to pay them pls suggest what would I do? 1 I am a totally confused. PLS HELP ME..

I left matrimonial home 2 yr ago due to domestic violence & started to live in paternal home with 3 yr old daughter. My husband never enquired about us & never provided monetary help till the date. He applied for guardianship under guardians & wards act & got interim visitation & now applied for divorce. He also filed another guardianship case which was dismissed on the ground of wrong section. I already paid more than rs150000/-. My question : how can I get the litigation cost for these 3 cases filed by him? How much amount can I claim? Can I claim interim exp for litigation or any monthly exp for litigation other than maintenance for my daughter? Both we r service holder. Please give ur valuable suggestions.

At the time of marriage I was in Africa.after marriage she came with me in Africa.it is almost 6 years of marriage she filed false 498a,actually truth is this that since very second month of my marriage my in-laws started owe money from me.I gave them through cheque.I have all the proof regarding that.I have filed 138 and recovery suit against one of her close relative.she wanted that I should withdraw the case from her.I opposed and she filed case of this.

Hi, I've been married for 6 years .I have a son.I filed domestic violence case and interim maintence twice as along with his sister he suspected the pregnancy as I came parentral home and avoided even after the birth of child saw the kid in police station at 50 the day . . first time it was revoked once mc ordered and he made a compromise and I lived with after 2 years him for 2 months . but as he behaved like a fake reunion again we seperated and I again re-filed the old case claiming failed to oblige the promise . now after 2 years. He is forcing me for mutual divorce. How should I defend now where still the case is given ex parte and order of maintence is under process. He is sending messages and torturing me to give mutual divorcedivorce where still I would like to re join

1. A single judge bench of the Allahabad High Court in Lucknow headed by Justice D P Singh directed the wife to pay Rs 2,000 per month to Kumar, an employee in the state owned Uptron Corporation, which had been declared a sick unit following which the petitioner was getting only Rs 1,000 per month.
His wife, working in a bank, got a salary of Rs 13,000 per month, had filed the divorce petition against him in a family court.
The husband also filed an application before the court seeking direction to the wife to pay him maintenance and litigation expenses.
On November 7, a single judge bench of the Allahabad High Court in Lucknow passed an interim maintenance order directing Kalpana Gupta to pay him Rs 2000 a month. The order comes into effect from September 1, 2005. Justice DP Singh has also directed the family court, Lucknow, to ensure regular payment of the maintenance, according to the order. Guptas had been married in 1989. The marriage, according to the neighbours, was "doomed right from the word go as the wife was more enterprising and aggressive and Santosh had been a happy go lucky, laid back sort of person."
Kalpana was employed with the Bhagirathi Grameen Bank in Sitapur, Santosh worked with the UPTRON till 1994 when the company was declared a sick unit.
Marital differences between the couple, who incidentally have no issues, began soon after the marriage. In 1997 Kalpana approached the family court for a divorce on ground of cruelty and demand of dowry by her husband and his family.
Santosh responded by filing an application under section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act, and asked for maintenance during the pendency of litigation to support the necessary expenses of the proceedings. He was jobless and had no funds to contest the petition, he claimed. The family court in September 2005 rejected the claim and held that "he was an able-bodied and healthy man and capable of earning his own livelihood and therefore did not deserve any monetary support from his spouse".
Santosh challenged the order in the high court. In his order Justice Singh remarked that "since the petitioner was residing in own house and he has to incur the expenses of his widowed mother, his responsibilities seem to be higher than that of the respondent no 1 (the wife)".
The judge also said that "section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act was equally applicable to both wife and husband" and directed that Kalpana whose salary is little above Rs 13000 a month to pay him Rs 2000 till the pendency of the suit to enable him to contest the case, informed Santosh's lawyer MM Shrivastava.

Dismissed case
My husband filed a guardianship case under guardians & wards act which was dismissed on wrong section. Now I want to claim litigation cost. How to apply & what is the time period to apply? Please advice.
