sir, whether a road passing through a coloney can be blocked by putting gates on both the ends of the road. Please also cite citations if available on this issue.
If it is a private road belonging to the Society/Colony, and not handed over to the Municipal Corporation for maintenance then the Society/Colony can block the road.
However, the members of the Society/Colony should not be inconvenienced in any way by such blocking.

If the easement rights are affected, it is illegal, state the facts if you really want a proper opinion.

If the passage / road through the colony is gifted to the local body, it becomes the public property. The colony can not block any body from using it.
They can do all such acts to give protection / security to the colony. But, they can not prevent any body from using that road.
