Threat / harassment from friend's parents

(Querist) 03 October 2011 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

I am Vinod, 30 year old, Pune Resident, working in finance company since last 10 years.

One of the my friend Ketan(28 year old), He is Alcoholic, habitual drinker, and now in very bad health stage. He is drinking from since his age of 20. I know him from last 7 years. Doctor just diagnosed that his one Kidney/Lever is damaged and if he still continues his drinking habit, he will not survive for mfore than one years. Despite of knowing this fact he is not able to give up his drinking habbit, because he is habitual.

I also used to drink alcohol occasionally along with my friends. 7 years before, Ketan also get introduced with us. We used to drink together occasionally. But in our absence Ketan used to drink daily. Me and my other friends are doing Full time job from last 10 years, so we used to drink only on weekends. Ketan’s Grandfather and Mother saw us together many times in drunk condition, and they now stared abusing us/ blaming us that Ketan is addicted because of us. They are not accepting that there son is alcoholic/habitual drinker from very early age. Ketan left his schooling in between and never did any job seriously. So he used to stay at home only and keep drinking in front of his grandfather. Ketan’s mother left Ketan and his House long years ago, because of Ketan's drinking habbit. Ketan’s father was also lost his life due to drinking habbit.

If in future if something happen to Ketan’s life, and if there parents goto police, what will happen to us ? will police can file case against us ? We are very depressed because of this, please advice.

Mr.Ramachandran had expressed his opinion perfectly. You are not a contributing factor for his ailment. It is established that he being a addict had invited all the ailments for himself. You can never be blamed.
