Stamp paper validity

(Querist) 28 April 2012 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

My father has registered a document on 8 september 2006. The document was done on stamp paper of Rs.100, which was purchased on 10 April 2006, which means that document was done near about 5 months after the stamp paper was purchased.
Sir, my question is that whether the above said stamp paper is valid for above document. We are staying in Pune, Maharashtra.
ajay sethi (Expert) 28 April 2012
stamp paper validity is 6 months in mahrashtra . what is important is stamp paper should be in name of your father or seller .
Deepak Nair (Expert) 28 April 2012
Perfectly valid.

The issue of 6 months validity of stamp paper is still a matter of debate.
Because, in the stamp act, nowhere it is mentioned that the stamp is invalid after 6 months.
But, it is mentioned that, for refund of unused stamps, you need to apply within 6 months from the date of purchase.

I agree with Mr. Nair, and there is supreme court to say so.
But people in know how of law of Maharashtra speaks in language Mr. Sethi has spoken.Might be there some amendment by state.
