RTI Act

(Querist) 01 August 2011 This query is : Resolved
Dear Members,
Once I made a petition under RTI act to the Registrar State Consumer Disputes Commission Chennai to advise why a particular judgement was not appearing in web site. I got a reply explaing the lapse.
Can we take the Registrar replied because he is bound to do so as per RTI Act in capacity of Information officer for the Forum? The query is made because officially I want a clarification on a section of CP Act 1986 and I propose to send a petition to him under RTI Act

Under RTI Act questions like why can not be raised. Information in the form of xerox copies, documents etc., can only be asked.

Hence, you can ask for a copy of that particular judgement.

Dear sir, ask information from that forum sir. Don't ask any formal reply. More over your R.t.i application should be properly. Otherwise view not bind to answer you. For example you have to pay the court fee as ten rupees for every application. Your seeking information should not be come under the exceptions colum. I mean under section 8 of the rti act. If you made your application properly mean they will inform you that totally how many pages for your information. As rep the valuation view will ask you pay the charges. If you paid mean they will furnish your necessary details.

For avoid some unwanted delay, at the time of application itself you can enclose sufficient charge as d.d mean (approximately 50 rupees) you will get your information as soon as earlier

Dear Sirs,
My query was whether Registrar of State Consumer Forum is bound to give information or clarification on CP Act 1986 under RTI Act. I have fixer Rs 10 stamp on my petition.
K.S.Srinivas (Expert) 01 August 2011
Registrar of State Consumer Forum will give information to the rti applicants and not clarification.

The registrar will respond to your appln. But try to understand what is RTI. You have the right to get the information available on record. You can not ask them to give explanation or opinion.
M/s. Y-not legal services (Expert) 01 August 2011
That only i stated as ask any information sir, don't ask explaination with that official. Also you have to request to the information officer of that official. Not to the registrar.

Ask for copy of the judgement by filing application under RTI Act 2005.
Thyagarajan (Querist) 02 August 2011
Dear Srinivas,
My need is not a copy of the judgement. On my RTI query he made it appear in web site and in reply to my patition he explained why it was not appearing earlier to my query.
Now I learnt he is Info. officer for forum i will be asking for section reference of CP Act 1986 on which the forums act on certain stage
Once i make the petition i will make it known to all members.
regards.
