Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 18 January 2011 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sirs,

If a lady gets a land property from her father, being the only daughter, is it becomes ancestial property? can her sons and daughters get equal share? or can she write the property to anybody she likes? If she writes to sons only, can her daughters claim their share? Is there any differance if she gets the property as a gift or through will from her father?
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 18 January 2011
If any female member gets property either as her share in the ancestral property, or as a gifted property or inherited property will be her 'personal property' and not 'ancestral property' in her hands.
Being her private / personal property, she can do anything as she likes with it.

I do agree with Mr.R.Ramchandran.

Dear Mr Ramchandran,
Please code the provision of Hindu law regarding the property succeeded by daughters are not to be treated as ancestral property, after the females given equal rights in the property left by their parents.

I agree with Ramachandran !

It is not paternal- side- property of Sons and Daughters -

The Property is from father of mother to mother

It is exclusive property of Mother - she can dispose as she like !
