The lawyer of my friend concealed facts about the case which later on cost a lot for him in that case. She communicated to my friend that the complaint has sent police to arrest him and the police officer has contacted her asking her to negotiate the case out of court. But what was shocking is that she said she was threatened by the officer that if her client doesn't pay 20lakhs that too in gold then he will harass and drag him to custody. What is the duty of the lawyer under this circumstances?

Yes apparently she should have.But Sir what action can one take.The complaint sent someone claiming to be a officer asks a ransom from her and no action can be taken by her?!

Lawyer must disclose all facts he come to know , to his client.

If you have adequate proofs, may lodge complaint with the Bar Council.

Thanks Mr Goyal. But what about her filing a FIR against the officer who asked her bribe?
Is it adequate proof that she told this in front of 2 witnesses? What if she refuses to file a FIR against the erring officer?

Let her make a complaint to the Superintendent of Police against that officer.
