Does role of IO end with filing of chargesheet or he part of trial and witness of PP in 498a case.

what sort of evidence normally he can provide other than repeating what girl said .
Husband had recorded and documented every conversation he had with him and followed up with summary sms. But he never responded to sms.
He did not even let husband know chargesheet is filed, despite multiple sms to check status

The IO will be examined and cross examined on the basis of contents of the FIR, Chargesheet and other details of investigation.

IO is just like any other witness and would be the last to be examined normally.

It is seen that the cases get delayed as by the time IO is required as a witness he is already transferred and the case gets delayed and unless the IO gives witness the case cant be concluded.
