Husband is not willing to live with wife

Hi
My daughter is a working professional got married 3 months back. Am a widow and my daughter is the only support I have. We have informed clearly all this to her husband's family before marriage. He agreed to all this and he will move to the city after marriage to work together and start their life. But now he is not willing to leave his hometown and forcing my daughter to leave her career or else he will not live with her. Also he and his mother had given her mental torture using abusive words and not letting her work or live peacefully while staying at her husband's home. As we don't have any other sources of help what should we do now?

Yes, there are no legal elements. It is the prerequisite of any relationship in marriage that the husband and wife are left to themselves to decide their priorities. It is inappropriate for the parents (from either side, esp. the mothers), to try to impose their choices over the married couple.

You can ask your daughter to get a job in that city or get her job transferred to that town.
Alternately you can ask both of them attend a marriage counselor and get his ideas to solve the issue amicably and move on.
This is a very early stage of their life, hence they may be advised to keep off the advises or interference of the parents of both the sides, and let them decide their own life.
Do not ever advise them to resort to legal actions because they will ruin their married life beyond repair

The legal element is limited to the extent that your daughter and her husband is legally bound to support you as per Sr Citizen Act.

Hindrance in fulfillment of legal obligation of you daughter is violation of Domestic Violence Act.

You may get them counselled by a local marriage counselor and try to sort out the difference of opinions and get advised to proceed to live together by burying the differences.
