How can I recover the money I lent to a person?

(Querist) 29 September 2010 This query is : Resolved
I went to a police station in Indore M.P. to register a complaint regarding recovery of Rs.5000 which I had lend to a person, but they refused to register it. I don't have any agreement's copy or bank's check. How can I recover the money?

Without proof you cannot recover your amount.you have to produce documentry evidence if you don't have any document of loan you can prove it by producing oral evidence of another person in whose presence of the loan was given.

1.Yes, proving by oral evidence is possible but very difficult.
2. Consult your Local Lawyer
3. Consult for total expenditure
4. Make an analysys for expenditure Vs. Loan amount
5. Then decide

For all the Experts : Thanks a lot. I thought that there won't be any chances of recovering the money but now after reading your answers I know that at least I can give a legal complaint against the person. I will contact a local lawyer.

Police have no right to recover any loan. You have to file recovery case in civil court, for this there must be a documentary proof.
