Dowry wrong allegation

Hi All,
My friend got engaged with a girl recently but due to some reason he doesn't want to marry the girl. His family has informed the girl side to break off the relationship and the girl side is threatening to make the false dowry allegations against my friend family. Till now there have been just a small roka ceremony between both the families. Please suggest what my friend family can do to call of the relationship and protect themselves from false allegations.

1. The ritual of roka ceremony between both the families and during such ceremony if some token gifts are exchanged then it does not amount to demand of dowry or taking of dowry. This is just an engagement ceremony. The engagement arrangements can be stalled if some necessity prevails for to do so.

The marriage can be stopped before it getting solemnized for the reasons justified by the person who wants to stop it, there is nothing wrong in it, but if there had been an exchange of money from girl side to the groom side, then it becomes obligatory duty of the boy to return the same to avoid unpleasant situations. Dowry harassment case will not sustain.
