charges on NEFT

(Querist) 19 May 2010 This query is : Resolved
No bank is charging on NEFT Transfer, but HDFC is charging..

Is it legally allowed to them by RBI??
Guest (Expert) 19 May 2010
Seek the information through RTI from RBI. If the information reveals that only HDFC is charging the said fee, file a complaint at Banking Ombudsman. There is another alternative also. U can send an application to HDFC seeking to refund the charges levied.

yes many banks are charging for NEFt/RTGS.

the charges has uniformity in this regard.

with regards to SBI,I have a personal experience of free service in this regard.

I do not know if it is based on discretionary power of the branch.

Some private banks go on charging unnecessarily against various free services until some one raises objection. so make complaint to RBI.

yes Mr Mahendra, It appears the banks charge on case to case basis. In my case HDFC does not charge a single penny from me for any service including DD. But all the banks have schedule rate for such services which they waive in case of a partcular set of customers.
