Vat on freight (maharashtra)

I understand that, in Maharashtra VAT has to be charged on Freight unlike other states.
Can someone confirm the same and give some reference of notification etc.

Dear Mr. Sanjay,
Pl. note that the sale can take place either on ex-works basis or on FOR destination basis. In the case of ex-works the question of VAT on freight would not arise. However if the price is on FOR destination basis then the VAT will be applicable on the total value i.e. price of goods + freight. There are no specific notifications, but judicial pronouncements are available a plenty.
