Registration is required for transfer of immovable property. Consult local lawyer and show him all he documents.

What is the document and its contents.
It would be better and appropriate to consult a local lawyer with the document for proper opinion and advise as the same cannot be presumed from given circumstances.

Nothing could be construed from your very brief academic type of question without examining the 61 year old document.

Moreover, it is not understood for what purpose you want to know the validity of a document of purchase by your forefather, also forefather of which generation?
