Harrassment case

(Querist) 27 May 2013 This query is : Resolved
I am a working, married female. I have been married for two years. My husband is employed in merchant navy and harassing me and asking me to resign my job. He is forcing me to accept his demands to settle anywhere else. but I am not willing to leave my job. Also my mother in law harasses me over dowry issues. I have been isolated in my house because i didn't accept their demands. I have decided to seek legal aid and my father-in-law supports my decision. Please tell me how should I file the suit and under what charges and Can I get a divorce on the basis of above reason?
Thank you.

it is better you consult a marriage counsellor before you file for divorce .

if situation does not improve file complaint under 498A against your mother in law for dowry harassment .
the best option is divorce by mutual consent

You can file DV Act case against your husband and your mother in law in the given facts along-with 498A IPC.

There seems to be adjustment issues between you and your husband. Seeking councelling help may save your marriage. However, if you have made up your mind for divorce then, consult a local advocate with all the facts and circumstances so assess the available grounds.
