In my opinion it is within six months from the end of financial year in which a return is filed and in this case the return is filed on 31st March 2011 i.e. FY 2010-11. Thus a notice for selection of case for scrutiny can only be issued upto 30th Sep 2011 i.e. within six months from he end of FY. and not upto 30-09-2012 as stated above by all Xperts.
