Why i registration of marriage compulsory if unregistered marriage is given equal importance at the time of divorce and payment of alimony?

To protect a married women from husband who denying his wife. It is also reduces many cases in judiciary.

The registration of marriage is compulsory but not in all cases but if any married person willing to join any Govt. service then it is compulsory according to states rule and regulation. secondly it is a best proof of marriage,

Although registration of marriage has been made compulsory so that no dispute as to factum of marriage may arise but that does not mean that unregistered marriages are illegal and can not be proved.
