Irrespective of what the farmer has alleged rightly or falsely, you have yur own cause of action and hence lodge the complaint with necessary detail in the local police station.
Since there is allegation and counter allegations , cross cases would be initiated .

Let ur relative lodge a diary in the local police station against the farmer with his medical report and thereafter he can file a specific case in the criminal court of jurisdiction.

Your relative must have been got admitted and his MLR might have been prepared and police also have obtained his statement on the bases of which FIR must have been lodged against the accused.
One thing is helping your relative. This is the admission of the farmer that his son was involved in fighting and the injuries to your relative are result of that fight. Now court shall also compare nature of injuries and other material. Your case is very strong. Let the stage of evidence come.

It is a case of cross-FIR.
The matter would be decided based on evidence and testimonies.
