Marriage certificate

Dear Debjyotida,

if the temple is not authorised to give a marriage certificate then how will i prove that my marriage was done in the temple.note the priest is ready to give the witness.

For the purpose of facilitating the proof of Hindu marriages, the State Government may make rules providing that the parties to any such marriage may have the particulars relating to their marriage entered in such manner and subject to such conditions as may be prescribed in a Hindu Marriage Register kept for the purpose.

Hence, the matter can be taken up with your local Marriage Registration office and apprise all the facts alongwith bonafide witnesses and evidence of solemnizing the marriage. There are some precedents to support this issue to legalize a Hindu marriage because, most of the marriages are conducted in temples as per Hindu Customs and Practice especially for those who cannot afford marriage halls due to economic status.

You can register your marriage. Follow advice of Prath Sir. Place of marriage have no concern with validity of marriage.

i have already mentioned that Section 8 of Hindu Marriage Act provide provisions for registration of Hindu Marriage. The required certificate can be obtained from Registrar Office after complying formalities. Moreover, the marriage can be proved by proving necessary ceremonies i.e Saptpadi or ceremony prevailing in the community of either party, as required under Section 7 of the Act by giving necessary witnesses

I think the subject marriage is in dispute and there is no chance of registering it now. However, any of the following may prove the marriage:
1. Witnesses,
2. Photo of the ceremony of marriage.
3. Photo of the parties in such a condition as it appears to be the photo of husband and wife.
4. Any identity card of the wife showing the name of the husband.
5. The certificate of birth of the child, if any, showing the name of the parents.
