If you Prefer to Stay in Govt quarters you could do that.

There is no problem till your service conditions specifically disallow.

What is the real problem?
naveen mehta (Querist) 13 November 2016
P venu iam not sure whether one is eligible for a govt quarter if he has his ancestral house in the same city of his posting , and moreover if one has house in his own name ( not in my case) then what are the rules thats what I wanted to know kindly sir
Guest (Expert) 13 November 2016
Dear Naveen Mehta,

If ancestral house has been inherited by you as a sole legal heir in that case you, being the present owner of the house, would not be eligible for Government quarter.
Guest (Expert) 13 November 2016
If at all the Property is Not Exclusively on your Single Name and Others are staying there already You need not Worry and Go for Govt Quarters.
P. Venu (Expert) 14 November 2016
The answer depends upon extant rules and the place of posting.

This is because there are different norms for different locations and different places and even postings. For instance, certain organisations insist on the employees occupying the quarters esp. when there is an attached quarter and refuse HRA to those who do not accept the allotment.

Anyhow, if desirous of getting quarter, you may apply furnishing all the relevant information.
