Dear sir,
11 years ago my father took an aircel post paid sim 9859983940,he hardly used it since he already had a prepaid sim. Today my father got a call that a case has been registered against him for non payment of postpaid bills worth 2000 in Delhi high court.Call was from a lady with mobile number 07551146926,she told to contact a lawyer whose number is 09990213988.They threatened to pay the bill in 30 mins else my dad will have to go to court.I already contacted aircel office ,they said number is blocked long back.First of all I want to ask....is this the way of aircel operator for extorting money from customers?If so,why didn't they notify before?Why are they notifying now after 10 years?They should atleast notify or call before filing any such case.Also when I asked the person,he abused and threatened me to pay the bill else my father will face consequences.I am really worried and depressed.Can anyone help ,Please?

Company may not be in the picture, as that is the way adopted by the collection agents. Even the holder No. of the so called lawyer may not be a lawyer.
So file a report with the police.

You may record all such calls and report to M/s Aircel, police....
Ask M/s Aircel to reply in writing on which date th number was blocked, and to which agency, on which date it has sent for the recovery,and who/which Manager is I/c of this agency?
It is the obligation of customer to cancel/disconnect under proper acknowledgment.

The claim seem to be time barred. Record the threat and inform police.

Ignore the call. If a case has been filed, the opposite party will receive the summons from the court. The party free to engage an advocate of his choice and defend.
