Dear Experts:
Defendent advocate is asking highly personal and embarrasing questions (but only vaguly relevant) in open court. Please enlight me on what sort of questions may be/may NOT be asked during cross of witness. What is the remedy in such cases viz., Can I ask for answering such questions confidentially/refuse to answer without affecting my case?

You can refuse to answer to any of the question. If the court will take adverse opinion if it feels that you are refusing to answer the relevant question.

Matrimonial proceedings are required to be held in camera, if not so done you may request for camera proceeding.

To confuse you the Cross Examiner may ask you all types of questions including attack on your personality too,as such the best way is to follow the suggestions given by Arvinthan.

It depends on facts of case that such questions are relevent or not.If not relevent then your lawyer can raise objection on same otherwise pray the court for a camera proceeding.
