(Querist) 04 October 2010 This query is : Resolved
Dear Members

Request all members to share your expertise on my query.

1. What are the general difference between agreement and contract (except as mentioned in the Contract Act)?

Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 05 October 2010
The basic difference is all contracts are agreements but all agreements are not contract. Go through the Law of Contract bu Pollok.
A. A. JOSE (Expert) 05 October 2010
Agreements can be made between two or more person with any kind of objectives or consideration, but it is only those agreements which are enforceable by law are contracts. For example, an agreement between two parties/persons to murder another person cannot be a valid contract, though it is an agreement.
Rajeev kulshreshtha (Expert) 05 October 2010
I fully agree with Mr. Barman.
Sri Vijayan.A (Expert) 05 October 2010
yES, ALL CONTRACTS ARE AGREEMENTS ENFORCEABLE BY LAW
BUT ALL AGREEMENTS ARE NOT CONTRACTS. SOME AGREEMENTS ARE NOT ENFORCEABLE, THESE ARE NOT CONTRACTS
