Legality of First cousin marriages in Tamil Nadu ?

First cousin Marriage is illegal and immoral in Tamil Nadu also against the custom and it comes under prohibitory relationship.IN my opinion progeny of such marriages would be born with some genetic defects with physical or mental disabi9lities.

Well said by Ms. Usha Kapoor, fully agree with her, not only in Tamil Nadu but anywhere in India it is illegal. It may be some practise going on in some families in South India but that cannot be considered as lawful custom that has obtained the force of law of the land.

With due respect ti the Learned experts, such marriages in many part of the country have the sanction of Law being the customary. As to the genetic defects of the children, it is only a matter of enhanced probability than a certainty.

Please stop giving false information about genetic defects. In tamilnadu people believe lord krishna's wife Mitravinda is actually his first cousin.
