Scanned copies as proof / evidance in courts ?

(Querist) 01 June 2013 This query is : Resolved
I have lost original important documents almost 10 yrs. back and could not report the matter to police.

Experts pl. advice, if their scanned copies which are available can be produced as evidence in criminal and civil cases. If so what is the procedure ?
ajay sethi (Expert) 01 June 2013
if originals are lost you can lead secondar evidence . you have to in your affidavit of evidence mention deatils of when scanned copies were taken , who has taken thwe scanned copies how original s were lost . if court is satisfied then scanned copies would be admissible in evidence

agree with expert sethi.

There is no prior condition to lodge a police complaint for leading secondary evidence of the lost documents. Follow the procedure told by Ajay.
