Whether a sincere appology (corrigendum / errata) is good enough to repair/minimize the damage in civil defamation suit etc. Is this goes favour to defendent?

Yes. If the apology without any condition is felt, the same may even cause end to civil defamation.

Apology is no remedy in defamation suit.The culprit must be punished for defamation.
