This query is : Resolved
I am currently staying in a rented room in Bangalore and my 11 months agreement is going to end on the end of June
2012.
My first agreement with the same house was from august 2010 till july 2011.
I had given a security deposit of Rs.50000 before moving in.
Initally after 6 months of moving in in 2010 he increased the rent by Rs. 500/- which we gave him till july 2011.
Now again since 3 months the house owner is frequently asking to pay Rs. 11000/- rent or vacate the house.
He is doing so because he is getting people who will pay him that much.
When we said that he has to honour the agreement he says that he does not believe in agreement and as he is the
owner he can ask us to vacate the house anytime he wants.
Recently we had water problems in the house since 4 months and he have asked him to repair the taps. But he is not
doing so. Instead he asks us to vacate the house.
He is creating problems so that we vacate the house as soon as possible.
What can be done in this case to bring the house owner on line?
Can we file police complaint/case against him?

if it contains such a clause then landlord can terminate agreement .
if it dosent contain any such clause he cant force you to vacate

all depends upon the contents of the agreement.
either post your agreement here or visit some local lawyer with the document in order to find out proper remedy keeping in view the contents of the agreement.

Thanks Kiran and Ajay for the reply.
The agreement has two months notice period from either side.
But the owner says he does not believe in the agreement and asks to leave in one/two week.

well then as per agreement inform him that you will vacate premises after 2 months .

I did that but he warns that he will cut the water and light.
What legal action(police/case) can I take against him?

You immediately engage a lawyer and file a civil suit against your owner seeking injunction against forceful eviction as well as continuation of power and water supply.
