Dear Expert,

What is the statutory minimum requirement for declared holidays under Companies Act 1956?? Was thinking of introducing a flexible option for the same.

Companies Act does not provide for Holidays. different State and Central legislations governing different categories of workmen provide for all types of leave and holidays. Beside that there is a National and Festival Holidays Act.

Except the 3 national holidays, all depends upon the States important festivals/events and the discretion of the management. National holidays on account of Republic Day, Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday are a must to be observed by all organisations.
