Closure of my saving bank account

sir,since last ten years I have settled in gujarat which is my native place also from maharashtra.I had a saving bank a/c with central bank of india in maharashtra.I wish to close the same as i have opened another a/c here with other bank.Can I close my central bank a/c in gujarat.The branch manager of local (guj) central bank of india refused to close and said you must close your bank a/c
with original branch.Is he is right,Please advice.Both branches are online connected.

The networking of bank branches is only to facilitate transactions by the customers. But when it comes to the question of closure of accounts, one has to close the account only at the particular branch in which the account was opened. The bank branch manager is absolutely right.

You can't close bank account at central bank of India, Gujarat. Ramachandran Sir rightly says. For closing of account, you need to send request letter for closing of bank account to Central Bank of India, Maharashtra by post. and also mentioning that balance amount,if any, transfer/remit to him by DD at given address.

Perfect advice by Shri Ramachandran. Whichever account you want to close can be closed by the approval of the concerned manager of that bank branch only.

You have to go to the concerned branch and close it.

You can operate your account from any branch, You have to close the bank account, only in the parent branch.
