ajay sethi (Expert) 27 August 2011
we presume you are working for any factory or shop or any establishment employing 10or more persons
and as notified by central govt
if you have been employed on wages/salary and you have put in continous service of atleast 5 years you are enttiled to gratuity .
since you have put in 20 years and you want to retire you shall be entitled to gratuity
Calculation of Gratuity
Gratuity = Monthly Salary x 15 days x No. of yrs. of service.26
naxmium grattuity payabale as per sixth pay commission recommendations is 10 lakhs(earlier it was Rs. 3.5 lakhs ) the entire amount is tax free
