Is there a limit on the number of associate members that can be admitted on a single flat in housing society? If more than 1 are allowed, then how would voting rights be defined?

Yes. I have already applied for 1 associate member with Form 7 of the model bye-laws and a Rs 100 fee by cheque. But I would like to add another associate member. Also, apart from voting rights, what are the other rights that are available to associate members? Does it allow society to collect cheques from associate members as well for payment of maintenance bills? I thought that the society would not care from whom the cheuqe is coming, associate member or not.

An associate member is also bound to follow general rules of the society. Your presumption is not based upon any legal provision.

Thanks for your responses. I checked with The Maharashtra District Co-op Housing Federation Ltd. office, and we can have 2 associate members on a flat. So will go ahead and apply for 2nd associate membership. I guess the voting rights would follow the order mentioned on the share certificate. Thanks.
