Disclose personal infomation

I am working for a hotel in Gurgaon, as the latest security measure all employees have been asked to disclose our cell phone and the cash we carry with us. I asked my HOD as I felt that it was a breech of my right to privacy, She says that it a norm in hotels. Pls clarify can the employer ask me to disclose these information which are not related for me to carry out my duty. Thanks

How the privacy right is violated by disclosing your cell and amount in your pocket during duty only?
hotel may assign you a small locker in office to keep your such belongings.

@Mr. Venu, Disclose to the security guard at the entrance. @Mr. Goyal I only checking if it does or not, not for cell phone but to disclose cash on me. Moreover the hotel is not providing any locker, but they want us to disclose information only.

Dear Ritesh,
If you are working in a enclosed area where many precious things or article are places or to be carried with the their routine customers for the security sake you can be asked for your personal belongings which you carry every day to your work place it does not hamper any body's reputation in any way and also is not an infringement to the right of privacy of a citizen in any way. It is well established frisking method of the security at required and reputed places of work. Like in all 5 star hotels and even at the entrance of the Parliament for the regular staff members.

It is a procedural and not a legal query, an internal security matter of the hotel. If you do not want to disclose you are at liberty to resign.
