Hello Sirs,
I would like to seek some advice on a few issues relating to a property that I own in Tamilnadu.
-My sister got married to an Engineer in the Public Works Department (Tamilnadu state)
- In 2004, I asked my brother in law to look for a land to buy in Salem (as he is local of the area)
- He assumed it was a dowry, found a land, negotiated a price on my behalf
- I also made the payment to the seller through my brother in law
- Land got registered in my name
- now my brother in law has filed for divorce from my sister after she went to the police for his harassment
- I want to sell the land, however my brother in law is claiming rights to the
to the land (he claims to have paid part of the payment)
- he also threatens the prospective buyers , then goes on to release a paper
advertisement, claiming the said property is under hsi maintenance, and that anyone
buying form me will face consequences..
- I lodged a complaint with the local police
- he immediately filed a civil case to escape any police enquiry
I need some advice on what can be done. Can I still proceed with the sale?
Please give me some advice to resolve these quickly.
thanks and regards,
Ram

The suit filed by your brother in law is not likely see much success.
Now if in the said suit there is no restraint order like injunction against transfer of the suit property , you can go ahead with the sale.
However seeing the pending litigation you may not get the market price.

That property solely belongs to you and none can snatch it from you legally so without caring to the threatening of your brother in law, move ahead and manage your own property and sale as per your desire.
