sir/madma,
during the 40s our grandfather only had a verbal agreement with the American missionaries to donate their land for a school in return for free education, works and jobs related to school for their grandchildren.later on this school was taken up by the state government and earlier agreement were not fulfilled.our grandfathers during their lifetime had said to their children that the school had not carried out its promises so we have the right to take back our land but to leave the area which the school had constructed its fencing on humanitarian ground.however till today the govt school on its side had not offered any opportunities and instead call us encroachers and is harassing the people who bought our land outside the school fencing.still today we are asking for the govt.to fulfill its founder promises made to our grandfathers or compensate the land or allot another land the size of our land.
what are our chances if our families take legal action or the government take legal actions against us?

any contract which becomes subsequently illegal is voidable. Now it is Govt school and its recruitment process is laid down by law which does not recognise anyone's ancestral claim. It appears you are too late to agitate and may have to forget about the land.

If your story is true and the school authorities are calling you as intyruders, you may ask the authorities to produce registered deed of sale or lease of land in their department/school's name. If they are not able to do that, you should rather serve them with a notice to claim rent for the use of land, as based on your own genuine papers and also ask them to vacate land within some fixed period.

have a look into the revenue records
the said land must have been shown somewhere with some purpose.

sir, our grandfathers nor our fathers had not entered into any agreement with the govt of their day over the school land.as such there is no document.even the land record and survey had written to the d.c that there is no record of how the govt had acquire the land and not able to comment.as for us in our state nagaland we do not have papers for owning ancestral land.only 20% of the people will be having patta or papers of sale deed.the rest are ancestral land
