Please bring the matter (whatever that actually transpired between you and the parents of the student with date and time) in writing to your Headmaster / Principal and take proper acknowledgement.

I do agree with R.R.

In view of problem narrated by you, although I do agree on the views of Shri Ramachandran, I would like to ask you, why and under what provisions of any rule or instructions of the education department you tried to insist the student or his parent to give such an undertaking?

In fact it is not the problem with the students parents, but seems to be that of the school itself.

As stated by you any of us can not say any thing more than what has been suggested by Mr.Ramachandran;but it stinks some where that
you did not remind parents when shortfall in attendance was progressing but suddenly what compelled you to state so??was there any legal duty imposed on you at this juncture to communicate parents about the same????

I have no point to disagree with learned experts.
