U.s. law - urgent help sought.

One of my friends married a U.S. Citizen girl and went to U.S.A in June 2009 on dependent visa. Thereafter, he got Green Card of 2 years valid upto end 2013. Within 3 months, on account of serious disputes between the couple, my friend returned to India and now procedure for divorce is going on. My friend wish to now go to US for further studies.

Can he go back to USA on the same Green Card ? Can his wife create any legal issue if he is in USA ? Can he apply for further Green Card after expiry of the present one in end 2013 ?
Urgent help is sought please.

Married in India under the Hindu Marriage Act and Divorce proceeding is also in India courts.
