can an advocate role as an advocate, if the matter is related to himself, be it sending legal notice or filing of suit

Not only an advocate but any body can do so.

He has to file as :"in person" he can do so and at times he may need to take permission of the court to plead his matter.

He can represent his case as party in person just like other persons.Advocate should not represent him self wearing robes.There is no need to get permission from the court to plead his matter.

Yes. Any one can be prosecute as in person. An advocate also can do it. He no need to get permission from concern court.

Very rarely advocates conducting their case as in person. The reason may be, if we appoint any advocate mean court may award the litigation cost. Otherwise no litigation cost will allowed to who one appeared as in person.

For sending legal notice or filing a suit in the capacity as "in person" not an "advocate".
