There is no time limit rather as soon as investigation completes, the challan is produced before the concerned court.

No doubt there is no time limit to complete investigation and file challan before the court but inordinate delay in doing it will certainly raise eye brows which ultimately benefit the accused.

If the accused is under custody, period is 90 days, other wise there is no limit.
